I love being on stage and meeting so many of you all over the world. But thousands of flights, and thousands of miles on the road is hard on the body and mind and lately I haven't felt really well. I haven't crashed yet, but my body is telling me that it will definitely happen if I keep on like this. To be clear: this has nothing to do with my cancer (I'm still healthy and 100% free from it).
That's why together Stefan and I have decided that I'm going to stop touring from now on. Dada Life is still both of us. I'll stay in the studio (with Stefan) while Stefan keeps spreading the Rules of Dada all over the world.
I will miss you all. But health first.
"It's the best cancer you can get."
The only word I could hear was "cancer" and it kept bouncing inside my head and I don't think I heard what the doctor said for the rest of the visit.
As some of you know I've been away from the touring. And now I want to tell you why. In the beginning of September I went to the doctor. It was a Monday. On Wednesday I had surgery (moving fast is important). Since then I've been taking blood samples, going through x-rays and talking to doctors. And now I'm in chemotherapy.
Yes, it's cancer. But after talking to the doctors I've realized that this particular form really is "the best" cancer you can get. Most people that get treatment become completely free from it.
After coming home from surgery I laid in the dark of my room, feeling completely numb. Darkness outside, darkness inside. But pretty soon I got up. In a way the world outside had changed. Now it's like I see the contrasts clearer. I see what's important, and what's not. Family, friends, of course. But also my large dysfunctional family - you. I have realized how important all of you are.
I also feel more creative than I have in ages. There are no limits anymore. No boundaries. I don't give a shit what people think about our music. (I don't think I cared before either, but even less now.) The last few years I've been making a lot of music that doesn't really have a beat. It's the stuff I hear inside my head after the lights go dark at a big show, alone winding down at night. I've decided to finish those songs and release them (facebook.com/nightgestalt).
But that doesn't mean I'm abandoning the beat! Dada Life is more important than ever. We have so many great songs in us, I feel we've barely scratched the surface. Dance music is one of the most explosive forces in the world. Just imagine how a kick drum and a bass can rattle your body and force you to move as one, together with all the other people in the room, smiling and sharing the same experience without saying one word. That kick drum changes peoples life. I have given my life to that kick drum.
I will be away from touring for a while. I don't know exactly how long right now, but I aim to be back at the end of this year. Stefan will still be doing all the shows and play a full Dada Life-set. It won't be long until the bass hits you in the stomach and you look up towards stage and see two DADAS bouncing up and down smiling.
I will see you all in DADA LAND very soon.
Thanks for taking the time to read all my thoughts.
We're sad to inform you that unfortunately due to recent decisions made by the Toronto City Council, we have effectively been forced to have to make the decision that the Dada Land Compound event will not go ahead as planed at the Direct Energy Centre. However we are still going to perform in Toronto on Friday April 25.
Finding a suitable replacement venue for the Dada Land Compound show at such short notice, as you can imagine, was an absolute nightmare! We tried, but nothing was up to par. So... a new event will now take place at SOUND ACADEMY with us performing alongside the scheduled support acts: Adventure Club, Tritonal & Henry Fong, but please note the event will not contain the same elements as a Dada Land Compound show.
Why is that? Well to put it simply, we want to play in Toronto... so we are! The Dada Land Compound shows are special. They require weeks of planning, detailed specifics in terms of the venues, logstics and a certain level of production we’re not prepared to compromise on if we’re calling it something extra special. (aka Dada Land Compound)
All tickets for the Direct Energy Centre show will be honored at the new event at Sound Academy on April 25th and will be subject to the following discounts etc:
Tickets that were originally purchased for more than $99.50 will now have the face value of $99.50. The difference will be automatically refunded to you. In addition ALL TICKET HOLDERS including ones at the new $99.50 price will be refunded 15% of the face value for the original ticket, again these refunds will happen automatically.
Anyone not wishing to attend the new event at Sound Academy can obtain a full refund from point of purchase. The option for a full refund is only available until 1pm EST Monday April 21.
We are working to reschedule a Dada Land Compound show for Ontario ASAP and will post more details when we have them.

As promised, we wanted to address the cancellation of the show on Saturday night and give out some details on the refund process and the make up show that we’re planning.
We've done a dj-mix for Swedish fashion-magazine Rodeo. And best of all - you don't need to be able to say "köttbullar" to download it. Just skip the gibberish and click the big red headline on this page.
